“I have lived on 100 hilly acres in Eastern Kentucky since 1974; here is where I feel
connected to the world and where I do most of my photography. I have done numerous solo and group
exhibits, sold Ilfochrome prints and developed a series of handmade notecards. I speak in schools
and at conferences, and am trying to get more contacts for children’s books since that is what I
enjoy most. I never thought of myself as an artist; I can’t draw, for goodness sake, but finally
realized I have been a visual learner all of my life. Now what I love is taking slides, working
with the color that’s there and composing the image right where it is. I like seeing with my art
what may otherwise not be seen, a looking outwards to see inward. A year ago,
I took a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Vietnam, where my photography provided
the way for me to connect to where I was amazed to be.”
