The spiritual essence of the Canadian Shield and its people have been the primary source of inspiration
for Heather’s work during her twenty five year career.
Born in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, Heather attended Toronto’s York University in the visual arts program.
Symbolist in a literal style, Heather explores her art within the crafts of watercolour, acrylic & egg tempera.
Committed to capturing the cultural and mystical landscape of Canada, Heather’s work is found in private and corporate collections internationally.
Since 2002, Heather’s dedication to her art form has included Children’s Book Illustration. Her first book,
As Long as the Rivers Flow, written by Larry Loyie with Constance Brissenden, won the prestigious 2003 Norma Fleck Award for children’s non-fiction
and was chosen as the First Nation Communities Read honour book for 2006. In 2005, she partnered with Loyie and Brissenden once again to
create The Gathering Tree.
Heather creates from her home studio in Pickering, Ontario.
