Winner of the 2006 F.G. Bressani Award, Dave Bidini is the author of eight books, all of them critically-acclaimed in Canada. He has made two Gemini-winning sports films (including the small-screen adaptation of Tropic of Hockey, called Hockey Nomad which Bidini wrote and hosted) and written a play, The Five Hole Stories, which will tour Canada in 2008, and another, The Night of the Dogs, premiering later that same year. He has several films in development, including Baseballissimo and a children’s animated series based on his short story, The Somethings. Dave has written for a number of newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, Village Voice and The Globe and Mail. His book, Tropic of Hockey, was named Top 100 book of the century by McClelland & Stewart. For 25 years, he was a founding member of Rheostatics, Canada's most beloved independent band.
