Mary Nethery
Agent: Andrea Cascardi

Mary Nethery is the author of six picture books including Nubs (Little Brown); Two Bobbies (Walker Books); Hannah and Jack (Atheneum); Orange Cat Goes to Market (Candlewick Press); and Mary Veronica's Egg (Orchard Books). Her work appears in Lady Bug and Spider magazines, Short Short Stories for Reading Aloud, and the anthology, Writers in the Kitchen.

Mary is a California girl, born and raised. She has always loved to write, beginning her first novel in second grade. Mary's writing style has been described as easy-going, punctuated with dry humor and snappy repartee. Her fiction is included in Valerie Lewis' and Walter Mayes' Best Books for Children: A Lively and Opinionated Guide, Multicultural Fiction Books: A Selected List, from Ohio University, and other Best New Children's Books bibliographies.

As an author, Mary has presented at state and national conferences, including the California Reading Association and the International Reading Association. She's been a teacher, as well as an administrator of training for educators, and has received commendation from the California State Board of Education for her work as creative director of an award-winning curriculum.

Mary lives in California and is married with one son and one cat, both of whom love books. She travels extensively and possesses a passion for adventure, animals, fashion, laughter, kindness, and spunky characters, all of which weave their way into her books.
